What does Wizag's Personalized Discovery Engine do?
Do you have to visit many sites regularly to keep track of news and blogs of interest to you?
Too many stories in the feeds your subscribe and not enough time to read them all?
You need to stay informed, but it is taking too much of your time.

Then the WizAg Personalized Discovery Engine is for you. This website solves these problems to help you stay informed while saving you time. WizAg offers the Personalized Discovery Engine that discovers topics important to you from the news and blogs that you want to track. It is much more than an aggregator. All an aggregator does is to pile up in your inbox. WizAg's Personalized Discovery Engine provides personalized discovery, ranking, recommendations and visualization, and all the important RSS reader functions.

The Personalized Discovery Engine discovers for you the important Topics covered in the large number of posts, distills tens of thousands of posts into a small number of important Topics. The posts are ranked, categorized and filtered into thes Topics based on your interest. In one place and with less time, you can stay informed of what is important to you. You can also visualize the important topics and their relations using Hot Topics and TopicMaps.

The more you use this service and the more users use it, the better it gets in sorting out, discovering, categorizing and summarizing information important to you.

Personalized Topic Discovery: Wizag uses natural language processing and artificial intelligence to extract, on the fly, meaningful and timely concepts that characterize the posts in the feeds. These topics are more informative and objective than tags. Examples of tags in competing services are man, easy, station, and other words that convey little information. Examples of recent Topics discovered by Wizag are federal reserve chairman ben bernanke, international space station, pirates of the caribbean, etc.

These discovered topics may serve two purposes: first, it gives you a quick look of what topics are being talked about without having to read hundreds to thousands of posts; and secondly, you can use the topics to quickly narrow down to the posts of interest to you.

Hot Topics: To help you get a quick big-picture view of what is going on, Wizag builds a personalized Hot Topics for each user, where the importance rank of the topics are represented by the size and color of the fonts, thus more important topics (as measured by your interests) are given more attention. This is more useful than the simple-minded Tag Clouds where the tags are less informative and the rank is a simple number count.

TopicMap: A TopicMap shows both the top ranked topics and the correlations among these topics in a graph, giving you an intuitive visualization of the information in the RSS feeds so that you can get a quick understanding of what are hot and how they are related.

What is a Topic?
A topic in My Topics (i.e., the feeds that you specify) is the collection of posts that contain keywords (and related concepts) defined by you. You pick the keyword and our algorithm filters through all posts in feeds that you specify. This is a quick way to see if something of interest to you is being talked about and for you to get to them quickly.

A topic in a Hot Topics for My Feeds or for All Feeds is a semantically meaningful and informative phrase or keywords (concept) that is automatically discovered by our knowledge guided natural language processing and concept discovery algorithm. All posts that contain the same concept are classified into the same topic. The topics are then ranked based on their relations and enforcement with other concepts, the authority and link popularity of the posts and feeds, your personal interactions and other users' interactions (e.g., reads, votes, comments, tags). Hot Topics for My Feeds focuses on topics of interest to you in the feeds you specify.  Hot Topics for All Feeds are topics in all the feeds and of interests to all users.

Hot Topics serve two purposes: (1). To provide a quick view of what topics are being talked about that are of interest to you or to other; (2). To provide an automatic categorization of the many posts based on the concepts they cover so that you can pick out what you want faster. You may also consider a concept associated with a post as a tag that is automatically generated by a semantic processing algorithm. These auto-tags are informative and consistent so that they may be meaningful to a large number of users.

Topics a Post Belongs to: The list of topics after a post shows the clusters of posts that cover same or similar concepts. They also serve as auto-tags of the post. You may click on these topics to find related posts.

How are the topics and posts ranked?
In each category or topic you select in the left, the posts are ranked by Wizag's Attention Learning Engine based on many factors, including the topics they cover, the relations and enforcement with topics in other posts and with the topics you define, the authority and link popularity of the posts and feeds, your personal attention and other users' attention (e.g., what you read, tag, vote or comment on).

In default, before you login, posts from All Feeds that this website tracks are displayed and ranked focusing on the collective interests of all users; after you login, posts from all My Feeds are displayed and ranked focusing on your personal interests.

This site is based on our proprietary technologies in fast natural language processing, knowledge based concept extraction and ranking, machine learning and personalization. We will be releasing more new exciting services and tools to make your Internet experience better.

More to come...
